A warm breeze played among the ancient magnolia tree standing in front of the white Fillauer Estate mansion, swirling the sweet floral fragrance over the lawn. The giant magnolia watched with a quiet stoicism as an iconic Hardwick Rolls-Royce glided down the estate drive.
Time stood still on this warm Tennessee evening.
The chauffeur opened the door as playful chatter and relieved laughter spilled across the driveway — JR and Elizabeth were married and had arrived to celebrate! Their handwritten vows were exchanged, tears of deep joy shed, and they had been introduced as husband and wife by her adoring father, Kevin Brooks. So much had led them to this very moment in time and nothing could steal away the magic.
Elizabeth held JR’s hand tightly, eyes locked, while meandering across the lawn in the evening light. As I brought my camera up to capture these dreams coming true I knew I was witnessing a moment in history. Their love story was unforgettable and would be told for generations. It would truly give hope and promise to so many others.
What an amazing weekend it was to celebrate the Brooks and Holcomb families! Elizabeth and JR’s hearts were truly created for each other and the day represented their love and admiration for family, tradition, and the future. Beau and I admired every personal touch — from a beautiful welcome party the night before and a Lee University Chapel wedding, to the custom hat bar (such a fun idea!), a “Tennessee meets Texas” themed reception, and the end-of-evening flower bar. The entirety of the day was a chefs kiss!
